Bill was an outstanding outfielder for Kansas State from 1968 - 1972. 

In 1971, his junior year at Kansas Sate, he had a team leading .373 batting average. 

Bill was named first team All-Big Eight conference in 1971 and 1972. He was named to the Kansas State All Century Team in 2000.

He was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the eighth round in 1972.
