A left-handed hitting first baseman, outfielder and right-handed pitcher, Dave played in the Eastern Missouri Baseball Association for 13 years; Old Monroe for 11 seasons and O’Fallon for two. With a batting average of .417 and 19 home runs – including four in one game. In 1976, Beckering received the EMBA special award and was selected to seven EMBA all-star teams.

He was inducted into the St. Charles County Amateur Sports Hall of Fame in 2007. Dave has coached and managed teams in St. Charles and was a volunteer umpire.
