Bob Ramsey enters his 36th year as the Saint Louis University Billikens basketball play-by-play announcer this fall. He is the longest tenured play-by-play announcer in Saint Louis University history. He was inducted into the Saint Louis University Sports Hall of Fame in 2009. He is a two-time local Emmy award winner and five- time Sportscaster of the Year.

Most recently, he was named Best Sportscaster by the Riverfront Times in 2019. He is a Lindenwood University graduate and was a starter on the baseball team for four years. As a tribute to him for his support Photo courtesy of InsideSTL of his alma mater, the Lindenwood University athletic department named a hallway at the Hyland Arena the Bob Ramsey Hallway in his honor. While he may be best known for his basketball broadcasting career, his work in baseball has been exceptional.

He was the longtime sports director for KPLR-TV Channel 11 where he covered the Cardinals, Blues and everything related to St. Louis sports. He had brief stints as a Cardinal play-by-play broadcaster on both radio and TV during parts of five seasons (’98-’00, ’02, ’04). And on many occasions, he filled in for Jack and Joe Buck on the broadcasts. When the all-sports radio format debuted in St. Louis, he was there. He served as host of several radio programs over the years on KFNS, WXOS, KXFN, KTRS and KMOX all in St. Louis.

Without question, he has excelled as a respected figure on the St. Louis sports scene for nearly four decades. He is currently the co-owner of Ballparks of the Ozarks, LLC, a youth baseball development in the Lake of the Ozarks area. He has served as the emcee and host of the Greater STL Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame induction ceremonies for the past 10 years.
