He has been a fixture on sports radio in St. Louis for almost four decades. He started at KMOX in 1981, co-hosting Sports Open Line. In the early 1990s, he left KMOX to work at KFNS Sports Radio where he became Program Director in  1998. He moved to KTRS in 2006 when that station began broadcasting Cardinal games.

Claiborne returned to KMOX in 2010 when that station once again became the Voice of the Cardinals. Claiborne is part of the Cardinals’ radio broadcast team. In addition to game play-by-play, Claiborne does pre-game and post-game shows for the Cardinals. He also does many sports programs aired on KMOX.

He is a popular guest speaker and master of ceremonies at sports banquets in the St. Louis area.
