Better known as “Weedie,” this right-handed pitching ace had two careers. He began pitching in the Tandy League playing for the Kinloch Monarchs, St. Louis Braves, and the St. Louis Blue Sox. His Tandy League record stands at 36 wins and 6 losses.

“Weedie” pitched professionally with the Kansas City Monarchs, Brooklyn Brown Dodgers, Newark Eagles, Fon du Lac Panthers, and the Hartford Chiefs. All in all, his career spanned two decades.

Edwards’ career highlights included a no-hitter, in which he fanned 16 Cairo (Illinois) Braves, and his selection in 1943 as the Tandy League’s MVP. He is the son of Frank “Teanie” Edwards, a 1976 inductee into the Greater St. Louis Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame.
