He is the Sports Director of KMOX Radio, overseeing a department that serves as the flagship station for the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues. He is also the lead sports anchor on KMOX’s “Total Information A.M.” and a host on the Cardinals Radio Network. In 21 years at KMOX, Ackerman has worked as a host, play-by-play announcer, anchor, and reporter. Since beginning his career at the radio station in 1997, he’s interviewed the biggest names in sports, covering Super Bowls, World Series, All-Star Games, and Final Fours.

He attended St. Louis Country Day School where he was the public address announcer at football games. He began his sports broadcasting career while a student at Indiana University, calling the play-by-play of basketball, football, and baseball games.

Ackerman has been a play-by-play basketball announcer for the University of Missouri and the Missouri Valley Conference. He has also handled play-by-play duties for the Missouri Valley Football Conference.

He emcees dozens of St. Louis area events each year, including the annual Jack Buck Sports Awards at the Missouri Athletic Club, recognizing the top sports personalities in St. Louis. Ackerman and Jack Buck worked together at KMOX Radio.

Active in the community, Ackerman has a passion for helping local charities, volunteering for countless organizations each year. In 2013, the Mathews-Dickey Boys and Girls Club honored him for his role in raising funds to improve sports facilities for children in the inner city.
