A former professional baseball player who played as a catcher and first baseman. Born on July 21, 1969, he was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 36th round of the 1988 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Pattonville High School in Maryland Heights, Missouri.

Mundy played four seasons in the minor leagues for the Cubs organization, from 1988 to 1991. He spent time with the Geneva Cubs (Class A- Short Season) and the Peoria Chiefs (Class A).

Throughout his minor league career, Rick Mundy played in 203 games. He accumulated 126 hits, including 24 doubles, 3 triples, and 8 home runs, with 63 runs batted in. He finished his professional playing career with a .211 batting average. After his playing days, he returned to the St. Louis area and has been involved in baseball camps as an instructor.
