He was a right-handed side submarine style pitcher who played in the Minnesota Twins farm system from 1987 to 1991. He started out with the Twins farm team in Elizabethton, Tennessee. He pitched for the Kenosha Twins in 1988 where he received the Rolaids Relief Man Award with 33 saves and an ERA of 0.26. He was named the Minnesota Twins Minor League Player of the Year. He was on the Orlando Twins in 1989 and then again in 1991. In 1990, he advanced to the Triple A level with the Beavers in Portland, Oregon. He also pitched for the Beavers in 1991. That year, he wrapped up his minor league career with the Orlando Twins. He posted a career professional stat line of 25-20 W-L record, 56 saves in 270 games and 431 innings pitched.
Delkus was an All-American pitcher for Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, and he still holds several pitching records. He ranks first all-time in saves with 19, second all-time in appearances with 78 and tied for first in career wins with 26. In 1985, he pitched in the College World Series with the SIUE Cougars.
He pitched for the Sauget Wizards from 1984 through 1986 where he was a top line closer for the Wizards in the Mon-Clair League.
Delkus is an Emmy-Award winning chief meteorologist at WFAA-TV (ABC) in Dallas.
