Mike was a speedy outfielder for Forest Park and Meramec Community Colleges and was a veteran Mon-Clair League All-Star.

He starred for the St. Louis Spikes in the Mon-Clair League for seven seasons between 2008 and 2015. Highlights during that period included being named MVP of the Valmeyer Midsummer Classic tournament and playing in eight Mon-Clair League all-star games. In 2020, he rejoined the Spikes and continues to play for them. In 2019, he was inducted into the Mon-Clair League Baseball Hall of Fame.

Tallis played center field for Parkway South High School between 1994 and 1998, helping his team win district titles in 1997 and 1998. That final season, he set a Parkway South record with 42 stolen bases.

For four seasons beginning in 1994, Tallis patrolled center field for the Manchester American Legion Post 208 team. He was named District 10 Offensive Player of the Year in 1998 and earned American Legion all-star honors between 1996 and 1998. In 1998, he stole 42 bases for Manchester.

Mike played JUCO ball at Forest Park and Meramec. He continues to play in the St. Louis Men’s Senior Baseball League and has a career batting average of .443. Tallis was selected to five MSBL all-star teams. He is the division home run leader. Tallis also continues to play in the St. Louis Forever League and the Mon-Clair League. In 2015, was inducted into the National Semi-Pro Baseball Hall of Fame.
