Mark Vogel
Hall of Fame Manager/Coach Class of 2022
Mark Vogel is a prominent figure in high school baseball coaching, with a long and successful career. He recently retired as the head baseball coach of Waterloo High School in Illinois in June 2025, concluding a Hall of Fame career that spanned many years.
Vogel's coaching tenure at Waterloo High School was marked by remarkable success, accumulating 619 victories. Under his leadership, the team secured five regional titles and achieved two third-place state finishes (in 2001 and 2019). He was inducted into the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2022 and also into the Greater St. Louis Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2022.
Before his extensive coaching career, Mark Vogel was also a baseball player, including playing in college during the 1980s. He emphasized the changes in strength training in baseball since his playing days and expressed concern about early specialization in youth sports. He also coached the Gateway Bruins 15U summer baseball squad.
