A right-handed first baseman and outfielder, Drury played for Augustinian Academy from 1964-68, and Southeast Missouri State from 1968-72, from where he received the Most Valuable Player Award. He was named to the District 7 First Team, the MIAA First Team and the All-Missouri Intercollegiate Team. From 1968-73, Drury was a first baseman and outfielder in the St. Louis Semi-Pro Summer League. He played for the Carondelet Sunday Morning Athletic Club, the Aalco Tigers, Northside Buds and St. Martin DePorres in the CYC Major League.
Drury was the head baseball coach at Normandy High School from 1977-82. From 1986-87, he was the assistant baseball coach at Littleton High in Colorado. He was an instructor at the Art Gaines Baseball Camp and an assistant coach for the Rawlings Prospects team. Drury currently operates two baseball camps in Colorado. Drury also conducts clinics for little league coaches and has worked for the Sertoma Hearing Impaired Baseball Camps.
