Luke E. Hart, Jr., gave hundreds of boys the opportunity to play amateur baseball under the best circumstances possible. He spent in excess of $125,000 of his own money and gave thousands of hours of his time promoting amateur baseball. Over the years, his teams won 12 league championships and his 1969 intermediate Fenton Veterans Association baseball team was undefeated, winning the Missouri-Illinois Bi-State Championship.

Luke Hart has been a member of the American Legion for more than 40 years and a baseball activist during that entire time.
