Lou Farotto was an outstanding pitcher and infielder at Southwest High School, where he pitched a no-hitter, posted a 7-0 record and batted .389.
Farotto, who threw and batted right, got the attention of major league scouts early in his career. His exceptional play as an infielder resulted in his selection to the All-Star teams in the Central League and the Texas League.
He managed at the amateur level for Rolla Post Legion Team and Southwest Khoury League teams. In addition to his contributions as a player, Lou sponsored kid teams for many years, notably, Farotto’s Pizzeria, a restaurant he owned and operated. Lou is a brother of the late, great Mike Farotto, who is also in the Greater St. Louis Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame.
