A strong-armed left-handed pitcher, Louis was one of five baseball-playing Gabris brothers. Louis played briefly in the St. Louis Browns farm system and pitched batting practice for the Browns’ big club when the legendary Rogers Hornsby managed the club.

Gabris starred for Holy Trinity and St. Agnes in the South Side Sodality League. He went on to coach for many years in the Catholic Youth Council (CYC) leagues.

Louis A. Gabris passed away on April 7, 2004.
