A left-handed outfielder and first baseman, Maclin played for the St. Louis Cardinals at the end of the 1993 Major League season as September call-up. He had 14 plate appearances in 12 games and registered one hit, one RBI and one stolen base in his brief stay in the big leagues.
He spent seven years in the Cardinals farm system, beginning in 1987. He started out with the Cardinals rookie farm team in Johnson City, Tennessee in the Appalachian League. In 1988, he played for St. Petersburg in the Florida State League and Savannah in the South Atlantic League. He was on the Springfield Cardinals in 1989. He played Double A ball for the Arkansas Travelers. In 1990, he advanced to the Triple A level with the Louisville Redbirds, remaining with them until 1993.
In 1994, Maclin played for Veracruz in the Mexican League. He left Veracruz in 1995 and joined Amarillo in the Texas- Louisiana League. He remained with Amarillo until 2001. He played for Tabasco in the Mexican League. He wrapped up his minor league career in 2003 with the Jackson Senators.
Maclin was an outfielder and first baseman for Meramec Community College when he was drafted in the 3rd round of the June Draft by the Cardinals in 1986. He played (1986-87) and managed and coached in the St. Louis Metro Collegiate League. He also played for Ritenour High School.
