John Galimberti

John Galimberti
Hall of Fame Player Class of 1984

John is best remembered as a St. Louis Hall of Fame soccer star - strong, brusque, and very skillful. He possessed the same qualities as a right-handed hitting third-baseman for outstanding Muny teams such as Edmonds , Fouke Fur, Borbein-Young, and St. Michaels. He began his baseball career at Southwest High School and played four years, culminating with pitching them to their first Public High League championship. Galimberti starred for Mike Farotta’s Fouke Fur club that won four Muny Championships. He also played military service ball for Zeke Benura in 1943 and 1944. A favorite of “The Hill” neighborhood, John operated a restaurant called Galimberti’s there for many years.
