An extremely versatile all-around area athlete, John’s potential professional career was interrupted by a military service call. A graduate of McKinley High School, he played with the Eighth Army in the Far East through 1948.

Dangos played through 1956 in his career and hurled four no-hitters – one of them an 18-strikeout perfect game. He also had a stunning 24 strikeouts in another performance. John went on to umpire high school, Muny League and American Legion baseball.

John Dangos passed away on January 19, 2021.
