Art was the head baseball coach for O’Fallon (Illinois) High School for 12 years. In 1994, he was named Southern Illinois Coach of the Year. Voellinger is a past-President of the Mon-Clair League, and in 1991, he was inducted into the Mon-Clair League Hall of Fame.

A veteran journalist with more than 50 years of experience as a baseball writer, editor and columnist, Art wrote a baseball novel titled “One Home Run” which was published in 2011. In 1998, he was inducted into the St. Joseph’s - Indiana Hall of Fame.
