A right-handed hitting catcher with power from the late 20’s earned Ollinger an opportunity to play professionally in the St. Louis Cardinals organization. Frank began playing in 1920 in the Baden area, toiling mostly with traveling clubs in the surrounding areas. Their home field was the famed Harlen Park and they took on aII comers. In 1928-29, Frank caught for the Hellrung Grimm club in the Mercantile League, hitting three home runs in one game. Besides the Baden Business Men, Ollinger also played for the Spic and Span Cleaners. He was a consistent .300 hitter and his clubs were winners.
