Morgenthaler, a catcher from 1920 to the mid-1930's was a power hitter with topflight Muny League teams from Carondelet Park on the South Side to Fairground Park on the North Side. He managed the Hellrung-Grimm club to a Muny League championship and caught for six consecutive area winners in national amateur park competition.
