Donald E. Mumm

Donald E. Mumm
Hall of Fame Player Class of 1986

Don Mumm was a dominating pitcher when the Semi Pro League was organized at Heine Meine in the early 60s. A solid athlete, Mumm frequently helped himself at the plate. A lefty all the way, Don began as a first baseman for Lee Carlson at Roosevelt High in 1947 and continued to play through 1965. He played three full years of pro ball, and some years he played half-seasons because he was pursuing a college degree. Mumm was honored by the Elks as their amateur Player of the Year in 1963 and 1964. He was on pennant winners with Houston, twice winning the Dixie Series (1956 and 1957). Don’s pitching helped Kutis, Ceresia's, and Kimacs to Muny City Championships. He was also a full-time batting practice pitcher for the Cardinals in 1958.
