Hall of Fame Player Class of 1986

Twenty-three years in baseball, with two years out for military service, are what Dom Italiano is all about. He was in amateur ball for 15 years, batting above .300, and was an expert handler of pitchers as a catcher. Italiano was one of the organizers of the powerful Semi Pro league at Heine Meine's and played and managed the Red Villa Club. In 11 years with Villa's, they won five championships. Prior to his years with the Semi Pros, Dom played professionally with the St. Louis Browns and Cincinnati Reds organizations. He went to spring training with the Reds in 1954 where he was seriously injured, virtually ending his pro career. This product of "The Hill' in St. Louis also coached the Rollo-Calcaterra American Legion Team for two years.
