From 1945-52, Al Tucci was a coach and manager for the Sixth District in the St. Louis Police Youth League. Many of his players went on to play high school and college baseball, and some had professional careers. Bob Wwiesler pitched for the New York Yankees and Washington Senators. Gerald DelGaudio was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in 1953 and played in their farm system until 1958.
Tucci was a right-handed pitcher and outfielder who played for Beaumont High School in the 1930s. He signed with the St. Louis Cardinals and played for their farm club at Cassville, Missouri. In 1935, he pitched in the Muny League for the Dorton Radio Team. In 1936, he played for Spanish Lake in the St. Louis County League. In 1937, he pitched for Moloney Electric in the MCA Industrial League. He played service ball for the United States Army in 1943 and 1944. Tucci worked as an umpire for 21 years in the Muny League from 1946-1967. He died on November 7th, 1967, just nine days short of his 51st birthday.
