Cliff was known as “Mr. Maplewood” In his early years, Cliff Poliette was an infielder and catcher in the Empire League, one of the strongest in the Municipal Athletic Association. After his playing days, Cliff became involved in managing youth teams and was successful winning championships eight years during the 1960s. In addition to managing, he was also involved in the administration of the Maplewood Khoury Leagues and served as their president. Poliette was the driving force behind in the construction of the Maplewood Baseball Park, which was appropriated dedicated and named Clifford Poliette Field.
