Cliff Politte is a Vianney High School graduate who spent six years in the Major Leagues and won a World Series ring as a member of the Chicago White Sox pitching staff.

Politte, who pitched at Jefferson College, was selected in the 54th round of the amateur draft in 1996 by the Cardinals and was the starter in the second game of the 1998 season. The right hander had a record of 2-3 with the Cards before being sent back to Memphis in May.

He was traded to Philadelphia in 1998 and spent four seasons with the Phillies and posted a record of 9-6 over four seasons working out of the bullpen.

Politte was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays in 2002 and he established himself in 2003 by earning 12 saves.

The White Sox signed him as a free agent in 2004 and Politte enjoyed the best season of his career in 2005 with a record of 7-1 and a 2.00 earned run average. He helped the White Sox sweep the Houston Astros in the 2005 World Series.
