George Csolak
Hall of Fame Contributor Class of 2025
George was a longtime sportswriter at the St. Louis Globe-Democrat from 1979 to 1986. He covered amateur baseball teams throughout the St. Louis area. He wrote about high school, college and American Legion games. George’s beat included the Mon-Clair League and the St. Louis Metro Collegiate League. He provided excellent coverage of the St. Louis Union Printers team.
In 1975, he was an outfielder for the Printers. He served on the Board of Directors of the Printers team, and he continues to support the organization. His father, George, also played for the Printers for many years and served as president of the organization for a number of years.
In 1975 and 1976, Csolak a sportswriter for the North County Journal, covering amateur baseball in the northern suburbs of St. Louis. During his years at the Globe and the Journal, he wrote about numerous men who are now in the St. Louis Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame. Csolak attended McCluer North High School and played baseball for the CYC Senior Major League. He attended Florissant Valley Community College from 1974 to 1976, and he was a student at SIU-Carbondale from 1976 to 1978. He wrote about the baseball teams at both schools.
Csolak currently serves on Board of Directors of the St. Louis Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame. His father was inducted into the Hall in 1995. Currently retired, George occasionally writes freelance sports stories for a number of publications.
