2018 induction ceremony scheduled for
​april 12th AT SHERATON CHALET WESTPORT

 
(SAINT LOUIS – NOVEMBER 24, 2017)  –- The Board of Directors of the Greater St. Louis Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame announced its induction Class of 2018 on Friday.  Nineteen new members will be inducted on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at the Sheraton Chalet Hotel at Westport.  Fourteen players, two coaches, one umpire and two contributors are among the 2018 class of inductees.  ​

Bob Ramsey, Voice of the Saint Louis University will serve as Master of Ceremonies at the 2018 induction ceremony.  During the ceremony, in addition to the inductions above, the Greater St. Louis Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame will present four awards:

  • The Jack Buck Award for outstanding support of baseball by a member of the St. Louis media:  Tom Ackerman, Sports Director of KMOX Radio,

  • The Bob Burnes Award for outstanding achievement in professional baseball by an individual from the Greater St. Louis Area:  T.J. Mathews, former player for the Oakland A’s, St. Louis Cardinals and Houston Astros.

  • The Bob Broeg Award for outstanding achievement as a high school coach in the St. Louis area:  Rich Van Gilst, head baseball coach at Westminster Christian Academy.

The Greater St. Louis Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame will also recognize five outstanding high school baseball players at the 2018 Induction Ceremony.  The Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame Rising Star committee chose five finalists to compete for the 23rd ANNUAL RISING STAR AWARD. The award recognizes the most outstanding high school player in the greater St. Louis Area.  The 2018 finalists are:

Patrick Connor   -  Fort Zumwalt West HS
Kevin Graham    -  Westminster Christian Academy
Hayden Juenger -  O’Fallon (Illinois) HS
Luke Mann          -  St. John Vianney HS
Austin Schmidt   -  Valley Park HS


The winner will be announced at the hall of fame ceremony just prior to the announcement of the 2018 inductees.
